Summer Shorts

!!They are back!!
The dreaded hot pants.
"Short shorts" or "hoochie shorts"
what ever you want to call them you cant hide from them they are everywhere.
Printed, dyed, pastels, studded, lace, you name it.
I find it really uncomfortable to walk behind all the 18 year olds (or younger) who wear them really short. To the point where their cheeks start hanging out the back....Its almost like a car crash "you don't want to look but you just cant help it" **TIP TO THE GIRLS WHO WEAR THEM THAT SHORT** believe me the men you will be attracting with those shorts are not bf or husband material. Be careful of that.

The looks below are some of the types of shorts that are currently trending.
(all available at www.urbanoutfitters.com)

Look.
I know you ladies are going to be hot this summer.
Its going to be hot and there's nothing anyone can do about it....BUT, just because you have a rocking body and booty doesn't mean you have to parade around town looking like a
homeless summertime clown
:( sorry but its true....
some of these trends need to be avoided. Especially if you have a family and husband.
"Dress your age and dress respectfully" is my motto. Especially since you don't want to attract the wrong attention.

If you are more classic than trendy (like me) you will try and avoid the crazy studs and prints. I have a few good pair of shorts that Ive had for some time now. I bring them out every summer and it just so happens that I have 2 pastel colored ones and 2 jean ones that go with pretty much everything in my closet. They are my summer staple. Simple and classic.

The 3 biggest things to avoid are
1. extremely high waist = if you don't have a 6 pack it will look like you have what they call front butt/camel toe and that's no fun for anyone.
2. too short in the back = make sure to try the shorts on before you buy and turn around bend over to make sure you wont be flashing any lady parts while on the move lol.
3. don't do all the trends at once in one pair of shorts. You will want to be able to pair them up with many things in the future.

American Eagle has a nice selection one of which is in the picture (left). I like the really subtle white print. Great if you want to wear color on top. They will go with almost everything and are a great price. You can look for them on www.ae.com
Ive also picked out some other cute items from their site today for you ladies who don't care for shorts.

If your style is more preppy and pretty than anything else you might want to check out these looks on  www.Abercrombie.com
I am loving the color on the pink shorts paired up with that awesome belt. They look a little short but they come in different sizes and the fact that I cropped the pic also makes them look smaller. Still they are great if you like the more preppy look. The dress is adorable and I just had to share lol

Like I mentioned you don't want to rock a MOM short this summer so here are some great alternatives for all you mothers who are in the market for some great shorts this season.
Because I'm a mother myself, I like to go a tad bit safer on the length part so that if I bend over or sit Indian style I don't have a accidental flash.

Joanak. Favorite Brand: Juicy Couture

Second on my list of favorite PINK designers is Juicy Couture.
It is best described through their website:

Juicy Couture embraces the bright and glamorous fun of its Los Angeles heritage by discovering the couture in the everyday, and delivering an element of surprise in all its designs—
Started by two fashion-obsessed friends (Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor) in 1997, Juicy Couture quickly achieved global recognition and garnered millions of fans, many with famous faces.

In 2003, Liz Claiborne Inc. acquired the company, and in 2010, the global phenomenon offers an assortment that spans fashion apparel for women, girls and baby, handbags, shoes, intimates, swimwear, fragrance, accessories, jewelry, sunglasses and small goods.

Pamela and Gela (pictured below) have recently started a new line of their own called "Skaist Taylor" Premiering their “California Eccentrics” line in NY fashion week earlier this year. (for more on this visit www.skaisttaylor.com )

I discovered Juicy Couture in the funniest way.
I actually didn’t know about the brand until I saw a couple of girls walking through the hallways of my high school. They rocked these pink velour jogging suits with the word “JUICY” spelled across their butt’s.

Today Juicy is way more than just jogging suits. I think they are definitely my top pick for casual and cute everyday wear. Here are my top favorite “New Arrivals” on www.JuicyCouture.com today:

Joanak. Style Tips for Easter weekend

Easter and Passover is right around the corner.
Get together's and egg hunts are inevitable this month.
Some are more upscale and others are more casual.
No matter what the occasion style is my advice is to glam it up regardless.
Picture taking is the main reason for this advice. Cant have a family portrait or great memories if you look a mess!

My favorite traditions are the Seder with my family
and egg hunt with friends and family.

Now that the weather is on our side I like to bust out my favorite classic styles.
You cant go wrong with either the pencil dress or full skirt right now.
Just make sure you brighten it up with this seasons colors.

Remember to check the weather when wearing a full skirt.
You don't want to give the kiddos in the park that
"Seven year itch" Marilyn Moment ;-D
I'm sure the Dads wont complain but you don't need the mothers looking at you sideways LOL.

Here are my top pick NEW ARRIVALS on overstock.com

If you are having more casual events and don't want to wear dresses. I encourage you to buy or find your most colorful top and pair it with your jeans and maybe a trench or blazer. Keep in mind these seasons colors are bright. Also don't shy away from the colorful Jumpsuit/ Romper! its my favorite thing to see women wear this time of year.

Here are my top picks for casual tops from shopstyle.com

If you don't want to use too much color and are wearing neutral colors always remember you can make it fun and give a nod to this season by adding a small splash of color with your accessorises. Add a colorful scarf, jewelry, bag, shoes or belt.
You wont regret it when you look back at your pictures.

Joanak. Trend Report

Do you know how to wear the colorful Blazer or colorful Jean?
(in honor of National Autism awareness day today, choose to wear the color BLUE!)

This season colors and color blocking is in.
They have even taken over our denim jeans and shrunken office blazers.
The best way to be sure you don't look like a clown
is to pair one solid color with a more busy pattern.

Trying not to over do it with patterns and colors is key.
Play with the pieces in your closet to get the right balance of color and pattern going.

the below collections on the left can be found at GAP and are part of they're new arrivals.
The people on the right are my favorite picks that "WORKED IT RIGHT!" don't shy away from the trend if you are a straight man. Sometimes being on top of trends like this can help you win the ladies over. ;-)
